Is it safe to have a root canal if you have lyme disease?

Question by flawless1212: Is it safe to have a root canal if you have lyme disease?
I was told by a friend sho has lyme disease that it makes the lyme disease worse. I did a google search and it mentioned it because of lyme disease attacking the nervous system. The Dr thinks I have lyme disease and we are waiting on test to confirm it. I am suppose to have the root canal soon. What should I do?
Actually I don’t really have much pain with it. I just don’t want to end up losing the tooh because it’s a front tooth but I also don’t want to risk making lyme more prominent if I do indeed have it

Are you in severe tooth pain? If not then maybe get the Lyme disease cleared up. Could your tooth problem be causing you symptoms of Lyme disease? I’m really not sure of the proper answer for you sorry.

Lyme disease can cause all sorts of complications including face paralysis, neuropathy BUT having a root canal on a front tooth won’t conflict with Lyme disease. Enclosed is a quiz about Lyme disease, symptoms and general info. it might help. You may want to ask your dentist if it would be advisable to premedicate with an antibiotic before dental treatment especially if they think the Lyme disease may cause irregular heartbeat or heart murmur.
Good luck and don’t be afraid to ask your DDS a lot of questions, that is what they are there for. :o )
