I can only say if you have had all those tests;your daughter might be suffering from a Psycho-somatic disorder.Stress will give her those sort of symptoms. My recomendation would be to try a Hypnotherapist. You would be surprised what they can achieve.

Q&A: Rash after large tick bite?

Wednesday, December 15th, 2010

Question by Tyler Daniels: Rash after large tick bite?
I was bit by a tick about a week ago, and have developed a small bulls-eye shaped rash. I know this is typical of lyme disease, but I also know that ticks that carry lime disease are very small. The tick that I pulled off of my leg was very large, one of the largest ticks I’ve ever seen, and brown in color. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Q&A: How long after a tick bites you does it start transmitting possible diseases like lyme disease?

Thursday, November 25th, 2010

Question by psyroad2086: How long after a tick bites you does it start transmitting possible diseases like lyme disease?
I got a bite this weekend on my foot but it was only there for 3 hours or so, would it have already transmitted the lyme bacteria if it was infected?

Best answer:

Answer by Dekayel
Transmission has been demonstrated in less than six hours. It bodes well for you that yours was only three. However, that’s no guarantee that you are free and clear. In addition to possible Lyme, you might also have gotten one or more of what are called “co-infections”–other nasty stuff the tick can transmit at the same time as Lyme.

Watch yourself closely over the coming days. Any sign of a rash? Fever? Headache? Dizziness? Flu-like symptoms? All are cause for concern.

Does lyme disease cause long term damage even after treated for dogs?

Monday, November 22nd, 2010

Question by Lindsay A: Does lyme disease cause long term damage even after treated for dogs?
My dog was diagnosed with lyme disease today and is receiving a month’s dose of doxycycline for treatment. My question is whether or not his joints/muscles will suffer permanent damage from contracting the disease at all even after treatment is complete. He is 3 years old, the symptoms started Sunday and treatment began today (Tuesday)…not sure if the timing would make a difference in the permanence of damage. Does anybody have experience with long term results of lyme disease in their dogs? Please help me, I’m confused by this disease. Thanks

Dogs should begin to show signs of recovery two to three days after beginning treatment. However, the disease may recur within a few weeks or months; in these cases, the dog will need to return to antibiotic therapy for extended periods.

Lyme disease can be a multi-systemic illness, with signs that may include fever, swollen lymph nodes, lameness, loss of appetite, heart disease, inflamed joints, and kidney disease. Disorders of the nervous system, while uncommon, may occur as well.

So, be alert for signs of the disease returning, and be prepared to treat it again, and possibly again… The sad part is there is a vaccine for the prevention of Lyme disease. Quick removal of a tick also will help prevent Lyme disease because the tick must remain attached to the dog’s body for one to two days before the disease can be transmitted. Consult with a veterinarian about the different tick prevention products that are available, as they can be an effective way to prevent the disease.

Quick Edit: I know a good dozen dogs from my Yahoo! Group who are Lyme Disease positive. They live very happy, active, healthy lives, just stay vigilant, don’t worry too much, but be prepared for repeat treatment, okay? You and your pup will be just fine.

My understanding is that you can go in and out of remision from it, but don’t hold me to that. Since you have the rash it sounds like you still have a problem.

Why is my dog vomiting white foam after eating a few bites of food?

Tuesday, November 9th, 2010

Question by chilidog: Why is my dog vomiting white foam after eating a few bites of food?
My 4 yr old Boston Terrier has been vomiting white foam after eating. He has had a cbc, complete panel, lime disease test and valley fever test. He tested negative twice for valley fever. He was very lethargic and dehydrated when I first took him to the vet. He has had x-rays and the vet did not see anything wrong with him and the vet is baffled! Has anyone experienced this with their dog?
He is also having trouble swollowing and when he does voimit the white foam, it rarely has any food in it.

Answer by Joceline
Well My dog sometimes does that when he chokes on his food . Maybe you should bye smaller bits of food . But your dog is 4 years old so I don’t think thats the case . Go to a good vet.

I’ve never heard of any link between lyme disease and bi-polar disorder.

If your friend is suicidal, perhaps he should talk to a therapist.

Good luck!

Can Lyme Disease come back after being treated?

Thursday, October 28th, 2010

Question by Xinro: Can Lyme Disease come back after being treated?
I was diagnosed with Lyme Disease earlier in the month and am on a heavy dose of antibiotics (Doxycycline) for 21 days to kill it. I know that it remains in your system even after being treated, but can it resurge and cause problems after you’ve gone through treatment? How likely is it to come back?
To add, I caught it in the first stages, so it hadn’t been in me more than three weeks before I began to take antibiotics to treat it. I never saw the rash or the tick that caused it.
