Question by Jackie: What kind of bug bite it this?
I have a bug bite and it is kind of freaking me out… Yesterday night I currently found a tick in my hair and i pulled it off. It wasn’t lice for sure. It was small and it was red-ish brownish. And the day before I found the tick I had a bite on my face at my chin and i’m wondering did it come from the tick and im I gonna get lime disease? Or is it just a simple mosquito bite? The bite is really red/pink. And bumpy kind of.
Here’s a picture….

No. It looks extremely similar to a normal mosquito bite, but not a tick bite. If you are still uncertain, the best way possible is to go consult medical attention immediately. Limes disease is a serious disease.

Question by SarahF: can a spider bite cause a recurring fever?
My grandma started running a fever over a month ago. She had swine flu and a spider bite. She is still running the fever. She has been to the Dr. several times. Every time she goes they give her antibiotics and while she’s on them she feels fine but when they run out the fever comes back. They say her lungs are clear and she doesn’t have pneumonia. She was exposed to TB back in the summer but she was tested at the time and didn’t test positive. She went to the Dr. yesterday and they tested her for several different things including TB and Lime disease so I guess we’ll find out soon enough but I was just curious what Y’all thought the most likely cause was. We have a lot of ticks around here but it seemed a little late in the year for a tick bite. Thanks for any answers.

Question by Chaod: Does Lyme Disease come back on it’s own or do you need to have it come back by a tick bite?
My son was diagnosed with Lyme Meningitis last summer. He is having the basic symptoms of a fever, drowsiness, lack of hunger, chills etc. I just wanted to know if the Lyme can come back and affect him again without a tick bite or he needs to have a tick bite him in order to get it again. Thanks!

I’m not 100% sure, but a disease is usually difined as a cronic or reoccuring ailment. So my guess is that it can come back on its own. I would also say that regardless of the nature of his symptoms you should probably get him to a doctor A.S.A.P.

Question by Sydney J: I have a bump that looked like a pimple or mosquito bite on my arm with a red circle around it?
I don’t know what bit me but I think it is a bug bite of some sort. There are 2 red bumps, one is very small but right next to the other one and the other one is about the size of a mosquito bite and a little bit raised. There is a red circle surrounding them, no rings just a red circle. It hurts a littl ebit to touch it but that’s it. What could this be? My mom has had lime disease but she said hers had a red ring around it, and was much bigger starting off.

Sounds as though you’ve been bitten by some sort of insect, perhaps by a spider or a mosquito. If this area of your skin burns or itches, apply a bit of aloe vera moisturizing lotion to the bite. This should relieve the burning sensation, but if problem persists then speak to a dermitologist.

Question by Steph:]: Tick bite. i have a question?
I had a tick in my leg i pulled it out maybe 3 days ago. I dont know how long it was in there.
Im 15.
It was one of the little tiny ticks.
Anyway.
Right where the bite was there is a little bump now. Its not quite like a mosquito bit its smaller. it did itch for a few minutes, thats how i noticed it.
So i guess my question is do they lay eggs in your skin when they burry themselves in your skin???
ive had a bigger tick in my shoulder before and had antibiotics n stuff for lime disease. But nothing ever happend.
plz help

No they dont leg eggs in you when they bite you. If it has been three days I would think you were safe. Watch the area for swelling redness etc. Let your parents know it happened but that it looks ok. Just keep a close eye on it.

Question by pearl: tick bite scar that won’t go away after 3 months?
I had a tick bite over 3 months ago. I did not know how long it was attached to me. I called the doctor and got a blood test 6 weeks after being bitten, and luckily no lime disease was found. But the scar is always there. The inner circle of the scar is dark and about a pea size, surrounded by a lighter dark circle about half an inch in diameter. The whole area is harden, and itching like crazy sometimes. Does anyone know if this is common and is there any cream to treat this. The bite mark is on my leg and it looks so disgusting when I wear short
Thanks!

I dont think thats an scar… It seems like an internal injury thats healing itself.

Question by Heather S: Help identifying an insect bite on Maryland’s eastern shore?
I woke up one morning about a week ago and I had a bite mark on my thigh. It itched really bad and was swollen and sort of had a sting to it. I sort of thought it may be a spider because it was really big. About three days later the bite had a huge red ring around it which looked to be the mark of a tick with lime’s disease. I went to the doctor and he agreed, however, around the bite mark was a line which looked to be a burrow mark and he didn’t know of anything in the area that burrowed except chiggers and I would have more than one bite. And my blood work came back negative for lime’s disease however, I am on a antibiotic. Now one week later I have a huge bite mark on my neck and it feels like it has a burrow. Does anyone know of anything that could be biting me? I live on the eastern shore of Maryland.

I saw on the news the other day that chiggers ARE heavy this year.

Question by Tracybeth: How to know If a tick bite has turned into lyme disease or something?
My husband was recently in the woods and had to rush off to a meeting and did not check himself completely the ticks that were on him were so small that they looked like a spec of dirt.
Now he has this growing rash on his ankles and up his legs and also on his arms they are small poc like bumps that itch and are spreading fast. Does any one have any suggestions on what exactly this could be?
Best answer:
Answer by lisab
That doesn’t sound like lyme disease. Might be chiggers or an allergic reation to a bite from another animal or from plants.
Play it safe and go see a doctor.
