Question by SarahF: can a spider bite cause a recurring fever?
My grandma started running a fever over a month ago. She had swine flu and a spider bite. She is still running the fever. She has been to the Dr. several times. Every time she goes they give her antibiotics and while she’s on them she feels fine but when they run out the fever comes back. They say her lungs are clear and she doesn’t have pneumonia. She was exposed to TB back in the summer but she was tested at the time and didn’t test positive. She went to the Dr. yesterday and they tested her for several different things including TB and Lime disease so I guess we’ll find out soon enough but I was just curious what Y’all thought the most likely cause was. We have a lot of ticks around here but it seemed a little late in the year for a tick bite. Thanks for any answers.

It could be. I was dx w/it in 91. 2 rounds of meds…it left me w/Fibromyalgia & then alot of other health issues.
Lymes disease is a nasty illness.

After my 4th hospital in 3days finally i was diagnosed as having Lyme Desease. Still waiting for blood test tho. Its retained in my lower legs. It has swelled up but not much. Day` 2 of meds and the rash is gone already.

Treatment involves rectifying the underlying causes of body water retention . A low dose of diuretic (water pill) may be prescribed to reduce swelling. In more severe cases of water retention, where the blood vessels are blocked or damaged, surgery may be required

My dog was diagnosed with lyme disease today and is receiving a month’s dose of doxycycline for treatment. My question is whether or not his joints/muscles will suffer permanent damage from contracting the disease at all even after treatment is complete. He is 3 years old, the symptoms started Sunday and treatment began today (Tuesday)…not sure if the timing would make a difference in the permanence of damage. Does anybody have experience with long term results of lyme disease in their dogs? Please help me, I’m confused by this disease. Thanks

Dogs should begin to show signs of recovery two to three days after beginning treatment. However, the disease may recur within a few weeks or months; in these cases, the dog will need to return to antibiotic therapy for extended periods.

Lyme disease can be a multi-systemic illness, with signs that may include fever, swollen lymph nodes, lameness, loss of appetite, heart disease, inflamed joints, and kidney disease. Disorders of the nervous system, while uncommon, may occur as well.

So, be alert for signs of the disease returning, and be prepared to treat it again, and possibly again… The sad part is there is a vaccine for the prevention of Lyme disease. Quick removal of a tick also will help prevent Lyme disease because the tick must remain attached to the dog’s body for one to two days before the disease can be transmitted. Consult with a veterinarian about the different tick prevention products that are available, as they can be an effective way to prevent the disease.

Quick Edit: I know a good dozen dogs from my Yahoo! Group who are Lyme Disease positive. They live very happy, active, healthy lives, just stay vigilant, don’t worry too much, but be prepared for repeat treatment, okay? You and your pup will be just fine.

The War Against Bacteria That Cause Diseases in Dairy Farms

At the robotic dairy farm at Beit Shearim, Israel (run by Mr. Eran Marmor, a third generation dairy farmer) equipment for purifying water by magnetic Bio-Hi-Tech was installed in order to treat for lime deposits and to convert the dairy water into magnetized water. Up until the installation, tests of filters found 7,000 e-coli were found per cubic centimeter. Today after the installation of the magnetic Bio-Hi-Tech equipment of Aqua Soft, tests by Mr. Marmor and the Health Ministry, only 2,000 e-coli were found per cubic centimeter. This is to say that the amount of the diseases causing bacteria in dairy farms was reduced significantly in addition it was tested and found that the number of somatic cells in the milk was also reduced.
