I’m a 14 year old teenage male, and I’m always tired, always hungry, and just don’t feel good, help?

Question by : I’m a 14 year old teenage male, and I’m always tired, always hungry, and just don’t feel good, help?
I am going through puberty, so that’s where my hunger may come in. But, I don’t understand the “not feeling good” or the fatigue… I got diagnosed with lime disease in November, and I was tired way before that. I took one dose of it, in November. And took another dose of it, last month (I just finished it.) It didn’t seem to help though… I can sleep for 8 hours a night (or even more) and I’ll come home from school and sleep like 4 or 5 hours, and then go to bed and sleep 8 hours. I’m always tired, always hungry, and never feel good… =/ I can eat full-course meal, including vegetables, protein, fiber, and everything else, and still will be hungry… And I can’t explain where or how I don’t feel good… I just don’t feel like I could work up to my full physical potential…

It could be any number of things, ranging from hormone imbalance to depression to something like sleep apnea.
You definitely want to discuss your symptoms with your doctor and figure it out. It’s likely to just get worse over time.

Ticks: save a life and help me!?

Thursday, November 24th, 2011

Question by If you know he loves you!: Ticks: save a life and help me!?
I was at my cousins house in north borough and unlucky me it was tick season. I got one on my arm but pushed it off at least that’s what i thought. What are the affects of ticks. How long does it take to take your blood and get you bad things like lime disease? I was playing on a trampoline like a little kid [giggle] which was under trees but i think i was careful. Can a bath take them off? I took a shower A.S.A.P. I just wanna know that I don’t have to worry =]

Tick bites are generally painless. You may not even notice the bite. And you may never find the tick if it falls off. Small ticks, like the deer tick that transmits Lyme disease, are so tiny they may be nearly undetectable. Some ticks are about as small as the period at the end of this sentence.

The actual bite may cause symptoms only after the tick drops off. You may notice local redness, itching, and burning-and, rarely, localized intense pain. The results of the illnesses transmitted by ticks often begin days to weeks after the tick is gone. That’s why doctors may not suspect a tick-related illness.

You may have any of these symptoms:
Feel as if you have the flu
Fever
Numbness
Rash
Confusion
Weakness
Pain and swelling in joints
Palpitations
Shortness of breath
Nausea and vomiting

Hope this helps. : (

My dog isn’t eating and has lost 20 pounds. please help!?

Friday, October 14th, 2011

Question by : My dog isn’t eating and has lost 20 pounds. please help!?
Recently my dog (labrador) has stopped eating, completely. We’ve tried feeding him some hot soup with some chicken, but he doesn’t eat that either. He stands hunched over and shivering, barely looking at us when we call his name. All he does is drink water (a LOT of water). He has already lost 20 pounds-and his ribs are visible and his sides are caving in. We brought him to the vet already and found a HUGE tick on his neck, but it’s confirmed that he doesn’t have lime disease or anything. He doesn’t have a fever either. The vet couldn’t find what was wrong with him either…so we might try to take him to another vet soon. In the meantime, we’re not sure if he’ll be able to make it…He can’t go on without eating…?!!??

My dog has hip displacia, help!?

Saturday, October 8th, 2011

Question by ?ocean_eyes?: My dog has hip displacia, help!?
(I may have spelt that wrong, sorry) But today we took our dog to the vet since he had been limping for a couple days, we thought it could be something to do with lime disease, but we found out it was hip problems that he was born with, the breeder said there was no hip problems with the family (YEAH RIGHT!) but I know that hip displacia is genetic. We have some aspirin (bayer) to give to him and glucosomean (sp) pills but what can I do for him besides that, its sooo sad because he is a puppy just born this spring! Thank you all sooo much!
yes the vet recommended it, we really didn’t know a lot about what to ask the breeder to see and rushed it a bit.

Answer by Meaghan
I’d call the breeder, first off and let her know that there ARE hip problems in his family and if he came with some sort of health guarantee, I’d go get my money back or see if she’d recoup some of your expenses. Unfortunately hip dysplasia is degenerative and short of a hip replacement, the only treatment is to supplement (the glucosamine pills are for that) and not to allow your dog to over exert himself.

please help me my dog may be dying.?

Thursday, August 18th, 2011

Question by Hesuse J: please help me my dog may be dying.?
my dog hanna is a full grown female Rotwieller she’s mellow, sweet, and she has lime disease and when we rescued her from the streets, they said she would die from kidney failure in a couple months, she was about 3 at the time. months later, she was fine and she has out lived that by a lot (she is around 6 or 7 now) and she is sick again, the vet said her kidneys didn’t get better but she adjusted and thats not the reason she is sick. they have her on antibiotics because she doesn’t want to eat her normal food (she’ll eat eggs and stuff like that) also she wont drink a lot of water or go to the bathroom. she has a tough time moving but will walk a bit. the doctors don’t no what is wrong with her, and we don’t have enough money to keep treating her unless we figure out what’s wrong with her. please help me, suggestions on how to get her to eat, make her comfortable, or what might be wrong with her. (vets strongly welcomed) thank you for everything, i love this dog and were not ready to lose her.

if she is in a lot of pain, i suggest that you give her a big meal before she goes to bed then give her a shot that will put her out of pain. i know that sounds sad but if she is in pain i would do it.i am so sorry about your dog and i hope she lives.

(Please Help) How would HypokalemicPP, Lyme Disease and diabetes all be connected?

Tuesday, August 2nd, 2011

Question by mermaid7810: (Please Help) How would HypokalemicPP, Lyme Disease and diabetes all be connected?

My Father-in-law has been living with Lyme for aprx. 18 years, Diabetes about 5 years and now we think he may have HPP any info would really be appreciated.

Best answer:

Answer by ridiculouslycurious
no connection really. diabetes is an auto immune disease, as is lyme disease. do they know why his potassium is low? there could an auto immune reason for it. basically the only thing i can think of is that diabetes and lyme both lower your immune response, but that would be it.

My dog is limping, how can I help him?

Friday, May 20th, 2011

Question by Sunny <3: My dog is limping, how can I help him?
A while ago, my dog was diagnosed with Lime Disease. He is limping and whining painfully; I don’t like to see him this way. I really feel terrible and wish there was something to do to maybe ease the pain. Does anyone know what I can do to help? I really appreciate it. :]

Thanks!
Sunny xD
Edit: Yes, I know about the vet, but we need to schedule an appointment. He was diagnosed with Lime, and I can’t take him to the vet every time it he feels pain. I was wondering if there was anything I could also do at home to ease the pain. I am not trying to save money, he goes to the vet now once or twice every three weeks due to his Lime. Thanks for the answers though, but is there anything else I can do with my dog to help the pain, without a vet? Thanks!

Sunny xD

dog medical question please help?

Question by : dog medical question please help?
my dog is a pitbull and german sheperd mix but takes on the pitbull mostly, she has the build for it. Well, yesterday morning when she got up she was weak in the back end and shaking badly, she couldnt get in the car she just fell backwards, we took her to the vet and she came out negative for lime disease but they are doing more bloodwork. Later in the day me and my mom noticed that she favors her leg like its injured but we have no idea how she would have injured it since she was fine before sleeping and woke up shaking. What could it be? We are taking her for x-rays soon and possibly it would help.

Could be a host of things from bad hips, to a pinched nerve to diabetes. Your vet will be of more help than guesses here.
