Question by B-B@!! P!@Y@: I found a tick on my shirt today in school, what should i do?
I put my clothes in a locker in the locker room, and i came back to change and i found a tick on it. My friend removed it but im paranoid about getting lime disease now. What should i do?
I know you have to be bitten to get Lyme disease, but whats to say if there was one tick, there wasn’t another one. I’ve heard ticks get pretty small. I checked the inside and outside of my shirt thoroughly, but i could have missed something that was tiny.

Well hey, I’m cassaundra, i am 13 but. . . I have had many ticks, mostly during the summer in ohio. all you have to do is rub your hands on your head in between the hairs so that you are touching your scalp. and do that all over your head. if you feel a tick/lump. get alcohole, then a cotten ball. dip it in the alcohole put it wear the tick is, pull out the tick and then burn the tick. DON”T flush the tick. it just climbes back up. then just take a shower to get the alcohole out.

What Should We Know About Lyme Disease?

Wednesday, November 10th, 2010

Question by Ben: What Should We Know About Lyme Disease?
I have heard that lyme disease is on the rise and all I know is that it is caused by deer ticks. Can you tell me more about it?

Best answer:

Answer by gotrice0690
I can tell you that it sucks lol, I’ve had it, twice. But thats pretty much the deal with it, you get it by being bitten by a deer tick (if they have the Lyme bug, some deer ticks dont)

Look for a bulls-eye rash anywhere on your body, especially in the area that was bitten. It’s a pretty distinct rash, so it’s not hard to mistake it for something else.

In some cases no rash appears though, bt if you have Lyme disease, prepare for a sucky couple of weeks. It’s like a bad case of the flu, mild/severe fever (I topped out at 104), nausea, dizziness, soreness everywhere, I threw up almost every day — I dont mean to scare you, but it’s a crappy disease

– Just get it checked out by the doc, and they’ll prescribe you some meds that will clear it right up. Good Luck

I’m currently getting rid of the ticks and I was wondering if you thought I should worry about Lyme Disease?
She also had them while we were in Mid. GA.

Lyme disease is quite hard to detect without a check-up by a vet. If you are worried, you should have her checked.

In dogs the most common symptoms are joint pain and fever that usually do not start until 2-5 months after being bitten. A few dogs develop swollen lymph nodes and very, very few ever develop the heart and neurological problems seen in Lyme disease in humans. When lyme-positive dogs develop kidney problems, it is late in the disease process.

URGENT: I just pulled a tick off of my stomach, what are the chances i got lime disease and what should i do?

Question by B: URGENT: I just pulled a tick off of my stomach, what are the chances i got lime disease and what should i do?
OK so i was running around a field full of tall grass and i got this tick on me. I was taking of my shirt to go to bed and saw it and just freaked out and i just flicked it 2 times and it came off. First of all was my method of removal really bad. It left a small bump but there was no blood. I am 100% sure it was an American dog tic (i captured it and looked at pictures). Could it have lime disease and could it have given it to me and should i go see a doctor or take meds?

You just need to check the spot and make sure that you got the head out. It’s normal to have a bump from the tick bite. You can pour rubbing alcohol over the bite a few times to prevent infection and this also makes the tick release the skin if it’s head is still attached.

What should I expect during my Lyme Disease treatment?

Thursday, October 7th, 2010

Question by naomistarr: What should I expect during my Lyme Disease treatment?
I recently tested positive for Lyme Disease and started treatment almost two weeks ago. I’ve been taking Doxycycline and so far, I haven’t felt much improvement in my joints and am still very energy drained. When can I start expecting results?

Best answer:

Answer by Em
Last year I was treated for a strain of Lyme Disease called Babesiosis (it is one of the worst out there). After starting antibiotics I actually got worse before I got better. This is called the Herxheimer Reaction. Basically, the die-off of the spirochetes will probably make you feel worse before you can feel better. It took me about 1 months to start seeing any positive results. If you don’t notice improvement within a month, talk to your doctor about adjusting the dose of the Doxycycline and maybe switching or combining it with other antibiotics to best fit your particular strain of Lyme. In the mean time, hang in there! It does get better!

I heard that Lime Disease was really common.

Also, I’d like to know how alana_924@yahoo.com is so smart and sexy. Is there some kind of exercise or something I could do to get that awesome?

Answer by Sunshine_and_brownies :)
The tick would probably die in your stomach due to the acid. Its only if the head gets in the blood that it causes Lyme disease.

How long should you wait between treatments for lyme disease and heartworm?

Sunday, September 26th, 2010

Question by insanity is crisis: How long should you wait between treatments for lyme disease and heartworm?
We’re thinking of adopting this beautiful foxhound from a nearby shelter but she has tested postive of lyme disease and heart worm. She has begun the lyme treatment as of May 29th 2007 and will continue that treatment for about three or so more weeks. The heartworm treatment is only two days but both treatments can not be done at once. She is a strong dog and will most likely do just fine but does anyone happen to know how long she will have to wait to have the heartworm treatment done after she finishes the lyme treatment?

Answer by iluvtorofl
They can be done at once. Apparently the shelter won’t do them at once? That’s strange.
