I recently tested positive for Lyme disease and began treatment for nearly two weeks ago. I took doxycycline and so far I have not heard many improvements in the joints and are still very energy draining. When can I start to expect results?

Last year it was a strain of Lyme disease called Babesiosis (one of the worst around). Following the initiation of antibiotics actually worse before getting better. This is called the Herxheimer. Basically, the mortality of the spirochete probably make you feel worse before getting better. It took about 1 month to start seeing positive results. If you do not notice an improvement in one month, ask your doctor about adjusting the dose of doxycycline, and perhaps the connection or combination with other antibiotics to better fit their particular strain of Lyme. Meanwhile, hold on! He feels better!
